Manning Cartell Double Time Pleat Dress Review
I’ve been on quite the Manning Cartell kick lately, and for good reason. I discovered this iconic Australian brand last year, and their dresses are beyond stunning. Today, I’m reviewing one of their most popular designs—the Double Time Pleat Dress.
This stylish statement gown features all-over elegant pleats, a corset top, and beautiful hardware on the straps. Its fit-and-flare silhouette is universally flattering, and the subtle split is just the right amount of sexy.
Price Where to Buy
Retail Price: $409
Compared to other viral dresses like the Alexis Sunniva, the Manning Cartell Double Time Pleat Dress is fairly priced at $409. It’s available for purchase exclusively on the Manning Cartell website.
Or, if you’d rather rent, there are endless dress hire options. Check out rental apps like Pickle or find a local rental boutique.
If you’re ordering from the US, this dress ships from Australia via DHL. I’ve placed eight orders (told you I was a fan!), and shipping has been surprisingly fast. My orders typically arrive in 4 to 9 business days, depending on customs clearance. Only one order has ever been delayed—otherwise, deliveries to New York have been seamless.
Fit Notes Sizing
The Manning Cartell Double Time Pleat Dress is one of those pieces you can tell was designed by women for women. The chic corset top and beautiful maxi skirt form a flattering fit-and-flare silhouette. This dress snatches the waist and highlights all the right places.
As for sizing, the Double Time Pleat Dress runs true to size. I typically wear a US 2/4 and found the AU 8/US 4 to be a perfect fit. The corset-style bustier top allows for some flexibility up top, depending on how much cleavage you want. I’m small-chested and wore push-up cutlets for extra lift.
If you’re in between sizes, stick with your usual — expect structure without restriction.
- Size Worn in Photos: AU 8 / US 4 in all colors
- My Measurements: 5’10”, size 2/4, 34B bust, 27” waist
Dress Length: What to Expect Based on Height
I’m 5’10”, and this dress hits the floor in flats with no grazing. While the Manning Cartell site doesn’t list an exact length, here’s what I would expect:
- 5’10” (like me): Floor-length in flats. With heels, expect several inches of lift.
- 5’8”: Likely to skim the floor in flats or just slightly pool at the hem.
- 5’6”: Expect a grazing floor-length fit or a slight train in flats. With heels, it should hit just above the ground.
- 5’3” or shorter: The dress will pool at the bottom. If you aren’t able to hem, platform heels will be your best option.
I rent this dress regularly on Pickle and have lent it to women anywhere from 5’4″ to 5’10”. Just know that if you’re on the shorter end, you’ll need extra-tall heels.

Fabric Feel
The pleated fabric isn’t just stunning but light, smooth, and breathable against the skin. As for comfort, this dress gets 5 stars. It’s truly as comfortable as it is beautiful. There’s a reason I own this dress in several colors. It’s that good.
Color and Silhouette Varieties
At the time of this article, the Double Time Pleat Dress has been released in eight colors. Most feature gold hardware, except for the Pistachio Green, which has silver accents. The Hydrangea Pink version originally had silver detailing when I purchased it, but it’s now advertised with gold.

Current Color Options
- White – A bridal dream, great for engagement parties or the big day itself.
- Pistachio Green – One of the most popular green dresses on the market and often sold out. If you see it in stock, grab it.
- Red – A bold, bestselling shade that’s undeniably sexy and fierce.
- Acqua Spritz – One of the trendiest new arrivals, ideal for spring weddings and prom.
- Black – Classic and timeless.
- Cerulean Blue – My new favorite. A rich, bright blue that turns heads.
- Hydrangea – One of the dreamiest pink dresses that’s soft yet statement-making.
- Nougat – A chic neutral that feels understated yet luxurious.
New Silhouette Updates
Last year, the Double Time Pleat Dress debuted in a strapless variation, with a similar sculptural silhouette. If you love the original but prefer a shoulder-baring look, this new style is worth checking out.
The Double Time Pleat Mini is a shorter take on this cult classic and a dreamy bachelorette style!
