The Yves Saint Laurent Lou Camera Bag has been one of my most-wanted designer bags for months. I’ve heard nothing but incredible things about YSL camera bags from my photographer friends, so I was thrilled when FWRD let me borrow this beauty. First, let’s talk about design specifics. The bag’s front and back panels feature a dreamy quilted chevron pattern, while the sides and bottom are crafted from smooth leather. YSL’s iconic logo in gold is prominently displayed on the front, complemented by a matching leather zipper for a playful touch. An adjustable strap allows for length and style personalization. One large interior pocket is accessed via zipper, while a flat exterior pocket allows for easy access.
Color and Materials
The Saint Laurent Lou Camera Bag currently comes in six color and leather varieties, from classic black to unique shades like “Marine Blue.” I wanted a flexible, everyday summer accessory, so I opted for the Crema Soft version. I love that this creamy, off-white style matches almost everything, and the gold hardware is sleek and luxurious.
Size and Dimensions
The YSL Lou Camera Bag, while still compact, is one of the most functional bags I’ve ever used. Measuring 8.75 inches in width, 6 inches in height, and 2.25 inches in depth, this bag is surprisingly spacious, with plenty of room for daily essentials without being bulky. The roomy main compartment easily holds my phone, keys, wallet, lip gloss, and my compact Sony RX100 VII Camera. The exterior back pocket is great for smaller items, but I haven’t found myself using this section due to its flatness.
I own the Saint Laurent Toy Loulou Bag, and while I love this mini bag, I’ve been searching for a larger, more practical design that can fit my camera. The Toy LouLou is essentially a glorified coin purse, just large enough for my phone and a few credit cards. Even squeezing in my small wallet is difficult!
Thankfully, the Lou Camera Bag is 2.25 inches wider than the Toy Loulou, with a slightly longer height and depth. This size upgrade has been a complete game-changer for me, providing much-needed space without sacrificing style. YSL’s Lou Camera Bag is about as versatile and glamorous as it gets. This statement bag has been my go-to accessory for everything from daytime outings to fancy date nights. Note: To extend the bag’s lifespan and keep it in perfect condition, I recommend cleaning it with a soft cloth and keeping it away from moisture!
